DEGREE PROGRAM
Digital Media, A.S. B.S.
MINOR
Digital Media
The Digital Media major prepares students for a career as a web designer and developer. In a spirited and engaging environment, the Visual Arts Department creates a real-to-life professional climate. The program fosters creative, independent thinking and teaches technical design skills while strongly emphasizing aesthetics and concept.
The digital media curriculum provides opportunities to explore and master HTML, Flash, JavaScript, CGI/Perl scripting, digital imaging, and computer animation. Much of the hands-on class and lab work is on projects of special interest to the student.
A good foundation.
The Visual Arts (VIS) department’s foundation year will give you the intellectual and practical tools to be an effective visual problem solver. Here you’ll master the basics of composition, drawing, photography, typography, color theory, HTML, and web styles.
Faculty expertise.
Integrated curriculum. VIS faculty members bring a well-rounded set of talents, educational backgrounds, and industry experience to the table. Working together they have built a state-of-the-art curriculum that meets and exceeds current professional standards.
Real experience.
Real portfolio builders. All VIS majors work in an internship or design studio course — every student has the opportunity to get real experience and to have published work in their portfolios.
In Web Design Studio, students work under faculty mentors to produce web sites for local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
