The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application form you must complete to be eligible for financial aid at Lyndon State College. You can apply via the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. LSC does not have a separate application form. You may obtain a FAFSA from any financial aid office or from your high school guidance office. FAFSA forms for the 2007-2008 academic year are available in December. FAFSA forms cannot be mailed before Jan 1, 2007. The priority deadline for submitting the FAFSA at Lyndon State is Feb. 14, 2007. Applying by this priority deadline ensures that you will be considered for all forms of federal aid. Late applications are processed in chronological order by their date of receipt and are subject to the availability of funds.
As a student returning to LSC in subsequent years, you should receive a Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid at your home address by mid-January. If you do not receive a Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid, be sure to tell us; we will send you a FAFSA form to complete.
The following are helpful hints to ensure a smooth FAFSA application process:
1. Obtain a FAFSA or visit the U.S. Department of Education Web site to electronically submit your FAFSA application.
2. Collect your and your parents’ 2006 federal tax forms. If your taxes are not completed by Feb. 14, 2007, then use your best estimate of your and your parents’ income.
3. Carefully read the instructions before you complete the FAFSA.
4. Be sure you use the correct Title IV code for LSC, which is 003689. This is the number you must use to make sure your FAFSA application information is sent to Lyndon State.
5. Be sure you and your parents (if you are a dependent student) sign the FAFSA.
