Who are Lyndon students?

Lyndon students are traditional first-year students, transfer students, adult learners, part-time, and full-time.  They come from as far away as the Sudan and Japan and as nearby as our neighboring towns in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

What do you need to know about Lyndon?

Lyndon is a small college that provides focus, challenge, support, and the comfort of familiarity for all students.

  • When we look at you, we see a limitless person with a complex life and powerful dreams; we don't see a limiting set of numbers
  • We remember your name, because to us, you are memorable
  • We are located in an area designated by National Geographic as one of the top geotourism areas in the world
  • Our students are active: they ski, snowboard, hike, bike, rock climbing, mountain climbing, and 40% participate in intramurals or club sports
  • Our funny students do stand up comedy at open mic night in the student center
  • Our musical students form bands and play the local ski resorts; in rehearsal, they can be found in every corner of campus
  • Our brave students skateboard at the Junk Jam
  • All our students have the opportunity to go on extraordinary trips with professors and staff members. This year they are going to Egypt, Australia, Italy, Greece, and Russia.
  • Lyndon traditions include Sugar on Snow and ice climbing up the frozen fountain
  • Lyndon is about experiential education:
    • All students receive exposure to their major by the end of the fourth week of their first year of college
    • Education majors begin their student teaching early and log twice as many hours in the field as required for certification
    • Psych/Human Services majors begin their fieldwork in their sophomore year
    • Music Business & Industry students help produce festivals and ski resort events
  • Our Sustainability Studies students participate in helping Lyndon move toward a vision of "green" campus
  • Our Explorations students -- students who have come into Lyndon undecided about their major -- find a major they will succeed at
