Guidance Counselors: Top Ten Lyndon Facts

Top Ten Facts About Lyndon

  1. Lyndon is an SAT-optional college.  At Lyndon, good SATs can help your students, but poor SATs will not hurt them.

  2. We believe that guidance counselors hold a unique understanding of individual students and their personal challenges.  That is why we read your letters of passionate support and consider them an important part of your student's academic profile.

  3. 40% of college-bound students nationwide will require some remedial learning their first year of college.  Lyndon provides proactive academic support to these students.

  4. Lyndon understands that motivation is the greatest predictor of success, so that is what we look for in an application.

  5. At Lyndon, we know our students by name.  We know their challenges; we applaud their successes.

  6. Lyndon provides academic rigor to top students who are drawn to our professional programs and academic support to all students.

  7. Lyndon is committed to assisting first generation students succeed in college via progressive advising and mentoring programs developed through the Nellie Mae sponsored Project Compass initiative.

  8. National Geographic has designated Lyndon's home -- the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont -- as one of the top geotourism areas in the world.

  9. Lyndon students don't hang out at the mall -- because there are no malls.  And they like it that way.  But we do get them to major hubs of excitement, via our popular bus trips to places like New York City, Boston, Burlington, and Montreal, for sporting events, cultural events, and shopping.

  10. Lyndon students are active and adventurous.  They like the outdoors and they love to travel.  This year our students will travel on organized college trips to Egypt, Italy, Greece, Australia, India, and Russia.
